Monrovia, CA – Parasoft Corporation is pleased to announce that Parasoft C/C++test 9.6 has been certified by TÜV SÜD as meeting the safety-related software development tool requirements according to the IEC 61508 and ISO 26262 standards. C/C++test is Parasoft’s development testing solution for C and C++ applications. It automates a broad range of best practices and testing activities—including static analysis, unit testing, coverage analysis, and more—proven to improve software development team productivity and software quality. Modern electrical, electronic, or programmable electronic systems that carry out safety functions are extraordinarily complex, which makes fully determining every failure mode or testing all possible behavior nearly impossible. Predicting safety performance is difficult, but testing is still essential. The challenge is to design the system in such a way as to prevent dangerous failures or to control them when they arise. As software complexity and mechatronic implementation continues to increase, so do the risks of systematic and hardware failures. IEC 61508 and its derivatives (e.g. IEC 61513, IEC 62061), as well as ISO 26262, include guidance to reduce these risks to a tolerable level by providing feasible requirements and processes.
